NEUROTHERAPY & NEUROSTIMULATION

WHAT IS NEUROTHERAPY?

Please click the video above for a brief overview.

Initial Consultation & Assessment

In our initial consultation and assessment process, the client meets with one of our non-licensed peak performance professionals so that we can best determine your needs and explain our process and training modalities in full.

WHAT SYMPTOMS/BEHAVIORS DOES NEUROTHERAPY SUPPORT?

Disregulated Moods

Over-and-Under regulated moods is the low hanging fruit in our clinic. Although not all presentations are the same, over-regulation and stress are typically produced by overactive beta brainwaves, which are fast frequencies that are produced on the bark of the brain — the cortex. The location of the excessive beta brainwaves will help us to understand the nature of the stress, whether it be the persistent feeling that something’s not right; constant nagging thoughts of negativity, worry, fear, and dread; or feelings of restlessness, unwarranted reactivity, and defensiveness.

There are many different kinds of under regulated moods. Early life trauma, loss, and physiological deficiencies in feel good neurotransmitters (such as dopamine and serotonin) are all possibilities as to why under-regulated moods creep in. There is not one kind, many are resistant to pharmacological intervention. We can determine, from the EEG and brain map, how unique under-regulated mood profiles appear in the brainwaves.

Inattention issues

There are many profiles of being innattentive and or hyperactive. Some of them are legitimate, and some of them appear to be the common diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, when there is actually something different going on in the brain and the body. The most typical profile is an alpha slowing profile, where the brain’s processing rate is slower than others of similar age. This is called a high theta/beta ratio.

Head Injuries

“In cases of TBI, neurofeedback is probably better than any medication or supplement.” –Richard Brown, MD; Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Columbia, College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, NY

New and old, you’ll be surprised to learn that decades old head injuries are detectable on many brain scans and could still be impacting your brain function today. When the brain suffers damage, often slower brainwaves — delta and theta — rush to the site of the injury to begin repairing. The use of neurostimulation and neurofeedback can create profound shifts in the ability to recuperate and recover from your injury. Neurostimulation enhances neural plasticity, increasing recovery potential by increasing circulation and calcium release. We typically recommend neurotherapy with hyperbaric oxygen therapy for cases of head injury.

Forgetfulness & Memory Loss

As we age, the brain changes and needs different support.  Neurotherapy and neurostimulation has been proven to help support and restore memory loss and forgetfulness, as well as, reverse the signs and symptoms often experienced in advanced aging brain decline.  It can include reintroducing supportive frequencies to the brain so it can retrain itself to perform at more optimum wavelengths, as well as, increasing bloodflow and oxygenation in the brain with our pEMF (pulsing electromagnetic field) and PBM (photobiomodulation) technologies.

Peak Performance

Peak performance is a training modality that we typically curate for athletes, executives, musicians and performers. Depending on the desired outcome, we will alter the performance training metrics. We will often begin with a baseline EEG, as well as a state dependent EEG, where the individual envisions the task at hand. We will then build a customized training regimen for the performer, such as peak alpha frequency enhancement (ideal for the individual who desires a faster processing rate, such as speed-sport competitors and high-level executives). There is only so much time in a day, and certain individuals need to maximize their output in order to maximize their gain. This is the realm of the quantified self.

Bodywork & Chronic Pain

Neurofield equipment is useful for bodily injuries, excessive inflammation, infection, and defective body systems. Our pEMF and PBM neuromodulation/neurostimulation technologies serve the tissues of the body through vibro-acoustics (pEMF) and full spectrum light (PBM) that penetrates deeply into the tissues.  These technologies increase bloodflow and oxygenation and even impacts the bio-chemistry of the body all the way down to the mitrochondria.

Trouble Sleeping

Trouble sleeping is usually characterized by a deficiency in slow brainwaves (such as delta and theta). These slow brainwaves are responsible for putting you to sleep and keeping you asleep. Often there is an excessive fast brainwave profile (such as excessive high beta).
We have very good success with our interrupted sleep clientele. Unlike other treatment modalities, we have the ability to deliver the deficient frequencies directly to the organ in need of them. This leads to deeper, longer, restful sleeps which, over a course of sessions, become permanent ways of operating in the night.

Behavioral Development

There are many reasons why various developmental delays emerge. Neurotherapy and neurostimulation are well suited for children. Children have an extra dimension of neural plasticity that many adults do not have. Kids’ great capacity to absorb information and language makes them quick to train. Believe it: you can train a child who can’t listen. You can train children who cannot sit still. The combination of sophisticated brain technology and well-proven learning techniques can lead to dramatic results.

Differently-abled Learners

Differently abled learning issues are pervasive and common. There are many modalities to work with them, many work well. Neurotherapy and neuromodulation works well, but is completely different than the other options. It is used to train the area of the brain involved in learning or performing reading, math or auditory and visual processing.

Meditation Enhancement

There are a variety of meditative profiles. There is also a multitude of different meditation styles and techniques. Everybody meditates differently, and every brain is different. In order to sharpen meditation we must first get to know how each individual brain works in that state. For this we may do a state dependent QEEG, where we take a baseline recording, then one in the state of meditation.

After measuring the specific pattern of your meditative state we will encourage it through neurostimulation and photobiomodulation (PBM).

NEUROMODULATION & NEUROSTIMULATION TECHNIQUES

Neurotherapy includes scanning the brain and providing neuromodulation (like pulsed Electromagnetic Field (pEMF), Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS), transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), and transcranial Random Noise Stimulation (tRNS)). Neurotherapy uses Quantitative EEG Brain Mapping (QEEG) and Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomographical Analysis (LORETA) for assessment purposes.

NEUROMODULATION

How does neuromodulation work?

In neuromodulation, we are retraining the pathological brainwave patterns (like amplitude and connectivity) by using a customized blend of pulsed Electromagnetic Field stimulation (pEMF), transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS), transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), or transcranial Random Noise Stimulation (tRNS) in order to influence the brain in the direction appropriate for the condition at hand. Neurostimulation leads to increased blood flow, the growth of new blood vessels and capillaries, and neurogenesis (the generation of new dendrites and neuronal connections).
